The Original Pancake House was founded in 1953 by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke In Portland Oregon. Drawing upon their many years experience in the culinary field and their comprehensive working knowledge of authentic national and ethnic pancake recipes, they were able to offer without compromise this unique and original menu which has gained national acclaim and remains unchanged to this day.
The Original Pancake House franchise came to New Jersey in 1992 with the opening of the West Caldwell location, which owner Peter + Dorothea Rentzis + family have successfully owned and operated a restaurant since 1968. At the time, gourmet breakfast in the area was non-existent. With an emphasis on serving great food with exceptional service, the restaurant quickly gained a loyal following and has become a local institution.
